Word is on Reddit that Firefly attendance is WAY, WAY, down. Supposedly they have sold about 43,000 total tickets, compared to 90k when the festival peaked. I've seen photos and it looks like a ghost town. I know someone who’s there and judging by their instagram posts you can be really close to if not on the rail for almost every act.

I've been following along via reddit, and it seems like they're having numerous issues this year. LOTS of reports of stolen phones and campsite theft/vandalism. Also, apparently a guy tripped out, got naked, and assaulted some people. And to top it off, Travis Scott only performed for about 50 minutes of his scheduled 90 minute headlining set, and reviews of the performance are quite negative. Rough weekend for sure.

Just read there were 8 ODs Saturday and a vendor posted he had four pairs of sunglasses stolen, and this is the first fest he's had that problem.Comments are all super negative and the vibes there seem to be bad. I think this one might be in serious trouble.

Seriously, why in the hell would you pay money to go to a music festival just to steal people's phones and sunglasses the entire time?

I’ve heard that’s been a big problem at multiple festivals this year. Festive Owl reported a well organized ring got busted at Roo, so apparently it’s not just random assholes. I’m going to be especially careful at Forecastle

It would be super hard for someone to get in there without me knowing

I got $20 floor tickets to the outlaw festival in columbus with willie nelson and the avett brothers and let me tell you it was overall a bust. Doors opened at 2pm and you were not allowed to leave. My group really was not interested in some of the earlier acts so we showed up around 6ish.
Upon arrival nationwide arena was EMPTY and the people sitting around us all told us how they assumed they could come and go as they wanted and were pissed that they were stuck inside the arena all day.
The upper bowl had MAYBE 5-10% full and the lower bowl was about 60% full.
The crowd was sitting and seemed incredibly bored during all the openers up until the avett brothers where the place was super loud and people were dancing like crazy. Once they got off stage, about 20% of the people left before willie nelson came on and even when he was on, most people were sitting and it was pretty quiet and you could hear tons of conversation among the crowd.
Overall, this seemed like a pretty big miss and while my group had fun with the avett brothers, the rest of the night was pretty lame and we left around 10pm

Loved them in 2015 and caught them this year. I’ve heard Willie hasn’t been good in a while, which is a real shame.

Anyone doing bellwether this year? I was eh at first but Beach House melted my soul at bonnaroo and I’d really like to see them in a headliner slot so I think I might go for the day

There was a lot of bitching about the Bunbury lineup for 2019, but it's no where close to being as bad as having the festival canceled after you are already there. That's rough

I genuinely don't understand why the whole woodstock 50 thing is still being fought for. There's no way to get everything ready within 30 days and still sell enough tickets to make it worthwhile. I feel like to general public perception is that this is already canceled

I can't believe they are 5 weeks away and still don't have a location or permit and they are saying "yeah man, it's still happening!" How could you screw this up that bad? The brand alone brings in money. 50 should have been huge!

Anyone else going to Railbird Festival next month? I've never been to Keeneland and I know this is a new festival. Curious as to how the setup will be and hope everything runs smoothly. From what I can tell, it sounds like there will be some sort of air-conditioned area open to everyone where you can also bet on the horses. Have not been able to find a festival map anywhere as of yet.

Have not been able to find a festival map anywhere as of yet. This festival is actually a sister festival to Forecastle and is being run by the same organizers. That is an extremely good sign because Forecastle is fantastically run. Super smooth and hassle free, very well planned and laid out. Obviously they've had years to perfect it, but I'd feel good about Railbird. I think they'll do a great job with it

Cardi B Tweeted and then deleted a spreadsheet showing all of her booking fees and potential revenues for festivals and arena dates this summer. It showed that Bonnaroo paid her $400,000 to perform, Veld festival in Toronto paid $500,000, and her base fee for arena shows is 450k, but each had a different potential top earning, ranging from 600-800k total take away.
I thought it was interesting to see the numbers.

She did do it on purpose along with a lengthy caption to explain to fans why she doesn't tour much, citing production runs upwards of 450k a show. Festive Owl still has it up. Festive Owl confirmed that Bassnectar charges about 500k Tame Impala charges 750k, and Post charges "more than Double" what Cardi does.

Post Malone must be swimming in cash bc his set requires extremely little production. I know they’re big but that Tame Impala figure is surprising. Bassnectar makes sense bc he has so much production and a guaranteed pack of fans will be there

Bassnectar makes sense bc he has so much production and a guaranteed pack of fans will be there I think the paycheck also does depend on the size of the event. I think the 750k was in reference to Tame headlining Coachella. I couldn't see a festival like Shaky Knees paying that much to a single headliner. I also assume Post's fees have skyrocketed since Bunbury booked him. I'm wondering if they didn't get him locked down in mid '17 back before he was really expensive. I couldn't see Bunbury shelling out more than 250 for a #5 booking

From several sources I have some news on a few of the Hard Rock/Metal festivals for 2020.
•Epicenter Music Festival- AC/DC is the main headliner, confirmed •Welcome to Rockville- has moved to Daytona speedway; Metallica and Slipknot are 2 of the bands headlining •Sonic Temple Arts & Music Festival- Iron Maiden is 1 of the headliners. The rest is just educated predictions and likelihood- but Pearl Jam, Slipknot and Rammstein seem to be the front runners for Sonic Temple headliners.

Seems very likely that Slipknot will hit a lot of rock festivals since they have a new album this year

Iron Maiden will bring in a TON of people for Sonic Temple. That's a great get. If you ever get a chance to ask why the hell GnR hasn't been to Columbus yet that would be great too. That is for personal selfishness I ask haha.

The inaugural Railbird Festival happened last weekend. I did not attend, but judging by pictures, the crowd was surprisingly huge for the lineup they offered. It certainly appeared to be Forecastle sized crowds on the main stage, I was very impressed. For an inaugural event without a real top tier headliner, I'm very impressed. Hopefully they can build on a strong first year and book some bigger names next year.

Their biggest hiccup was with leaving the parking lot on Saturday, but was remedied by Sunday. The layout of the festival was great. No bottlenecks between the two stages. Plenty of space to watch the bands. The crowds were huge, but not overwhelming. Lexington really does a great job of supporting their local festivals. Raconteurs, Brandi Carlisle, Hozier, OCMS, Mavis Staples, Futurebirds, Low Cut Connie, And many more put on great performances with really good support from the crowds. The place was very chill. A great end of the summer festival season show. Will definitely head back next year.

If you’re into electronic at all Rezz and RL Grime are in Columbus on a festival bill. It’s called haunted fest on 10/25. Rezz is pretty big now and she’s one of my sleeper picks for bunbury next year

I did think the Raconteurs were going to come out for an encore but the crowd kind of disbursed quickly after they finished up. There was still about 10 minutes left until 11 so I thought they may come back out.
