Saturday is typically reserved for their #1 and always draws the biggest crowds. I do wonder if someone fell through and that's what the delay was. Yeah I was a little confused with that. Is this Anderson Paak guy a big name? I know absolutely nothing about the raps I've never heard of him. On Spotify, his top songs are pretty similar in listens to The Avetts. Neither are close to the amount of listens for The Killers, though The Killers are obviously more main stream than the other two.

Tbh I don't think Forecastle is that great. Certainly better than Bunbury, but that's not saying much.

I know Anderson Paak was up for some of the biggest awards at the Grammys last night. Over on Inforoo I had heard his name a lot but I haven't really heard anything by him.

Is this Anderson Paak guy a big name? I know absolutely nothing about the raps I feel like he's someone who is on the verge of blowing up. No big radio singles yet, but he's been a festival staple for a few years now. He's not mainstream but I know he has a passionate following. A guy I (unfortunately) had to work with on my thesis project last semester absolutely loved them and if he is any indication of the fan base, I wouldn't want to be around Saturday night. Forecastle typically does have one headliner that falls a little short of the other two. (Modest Mouse, Odesza, Ryan Adams, etc.) I think this could be their attempt to replicate Bunbury's success of booking Post right before he blew up. EDIT: He did tie for "Best rap performance" at the Grammys last night. That has to count for something.

Is this Anderson Paak guy a big name? I know absolutely nothing about the raps Anderson Paak is pretty good. I didn’t think he was quite big enough to headline festivals yet but hes not a bad choice for a smaller fest. I think he’s an album or 2 away from being in that pre-headliner/headliner conversation at bigger festivals. He has a lot of R&B and funk to his music and isn’t a straight hip hop artist. His backing band(The Free National) is pretty damn good too.

On paper this lineup is so much better than Bunbury tbh. I would have assumed Bunbury has better resources to get better acts but maybe they just dropped the ball this year. Damn shame

If you compare the headliners to Bonnaroo, The Killers were # 2 last year, Anderson was #14 (I think he would jump up four or five spots if he was on the bill this year) and the Avetts are #4 on Friday this year behind Childish Gambino, Phish, and Solange, so probably 8th or 9th overall.

Hands down Forecastle has a better lineup. The undercard is stacked! They even have more of a female presence. Maggie Rodgers For example. If money is tight and you already bought Bunbury tickets volunteer! It’s super easy and usually you only miss 1-2 hours but still can see performances.

Really hope some of these are wrong. Bought early bird tickets & am pretty underwhelmed by the lineup so far. Wondering what my luck will be selling VIP tickets. Your luck will be great if that's the lineup. It's a great lineup even if not to your tastes. Guess I'm keeping the tickets. Not quite to my tastes but my boyfriend is pretty excited about it. Friday will be fun.

Yes, I counted bands with at least one woman in them (using the pictures on the forecastle website) and did the same for Bunbury. Results: Forecastle: 22 out of 55 acts listed have at least one woman in the band (40%) Highest billed act with at least one woman: Maggie Rogers, #5 Acts with at least one woman in the top 10: 3 Bunbury: 7 out of 40 (17.5%) Highest billed: The Aces, #18 Acts in the top 10: 0 Ouch. Bunbury dropped the ball on this one again. Can't make any excuses for that.

I guess I’m the only one that thinks bunbury has the better lineup? Sure the killers are the best grab out of the two but overall I enjoy bunbury’s. I mean the Killers and Highly Suspect would be the only ones to sell me. I’m sticking to Bunbury with a fantastic Mid card-goodish Upper card over 1 or 2 big names and a weak mid card. (this is all my opinion) I also like rock music more than alternative or pop witch is for sure the biggest factor Yeah, everyone has their own tastes and all... But I think you might be right here. You'd be hard pressed to find too many folks that like the bunbury lineup over forecastle.

You'd be hard pressed to find too many folks that like the bunbury lineup over forecastle. Yes, overall the Forecastle lineup has gotten positive reviews. Honestly, I think the nicest part of it for me is that they're not trying to stack it with artists that are super hot right now and rather put together a complete lineup of a diverse set of acts that fit together as a whole. A lot of festivals this year, Bunbury included, seem to be featuring acts that really pull in their fan bases who will buy three day passes regardless of who else is there. Acts like 21 Pilots, Travis Scott, The 1975, Cardi B, and Phish are good examples. When looking at lines ups from four or five years ago, they just seemed to be more cohesive and well rounded. This year it just seems like promoters are going for whoever can sell tickets individually, with the hopes those sales from individual artists will add up. In short, Forecastle stood its ground and booked the type of lineup we come to expect. They didn't book someone who is blowing up right now just for the sake of ticket sales. That's what I like about this fest.

Haven't gotten mine yet (have a few other large expenses to pay off first) but got the lady fully on board so we are going to head down for the first time this year. Very excited for the lineup and getting to explore (what looks to me) like a really cool festival layout/attractions outside of just the music!

I went to Forecastle on Friday last year and plan to do the same this year at the very least, hopefully a full weekend. I think you're both going to be very impressed with not only the lineup, but the festival layout, the people, and overall vibe. There are a lot of very little things that make a big difference, like the decorations and art throughout the fest. It also has a more of a mature vibe, and I mean that in the very best way possible. Yes, there are plenty of high school and college kids but they tend to stay over in the party cove area or by the stage under the overpass. Lots more folks in their upper twenties and thirties, and even forties and fifties. The crowd on the main lawn is pretty laid back and it wasn't difficult to get good viewing spots for everyone but the headliner without having to arrive super early. That may be different with Portugal and the Killers this year though.

Last year I stayed at a Hampton Inn about 20 minutes from the fest, I can't recall where it was exactly, but it was nice. However, there was a really nasty stain on a comforter that looked like shit. I wasn't happy but they changed it and comped the room 100% so that was nice haha.
Also, tickets went on sale today and level one passes sold out in less than six hours. I don't remember last year, but I really don't think they went nearly this fast. I think Forecastle honestly has the possibility to pull of a sellout.

My GF and I are going for the first time this year and definitely would love to know people's recommendations for it! Based on Reddit, you're definitely not the only one asking haha. Lots of people are first timers and thats a really positive sign for this fest. I went last year on Friday. Here are a few things I noticed: 1. Much more spread out and laid back feel around the main stage. That could be different this year, especially with two big draws on Friday. But its not difficult to get up close to the stage. We arrived right before AJR and were well in front of the sound booth for them. We got within 20 ft of the stage for RKS after all the AJR folks cleared out so its not hard. 2. Lots of people do bring blankets and sit/stand on them on the main lawn. Again, more laid back/mature crowd. 3. Boom stage, the secondary stage is a little more cramped and the sight lines aren't as good. I recommend getting there early for the bigger acts that play it. Last year Vance Joy closed it out Friday night. 4. Most teenagers/college kids/partiers tend to stay over in Party Cove or at the stage under the overpass which typically features the edm and hip hop acts. I've heard in past years when they had more EDM, they were a bit problematic but everyone seemed well behaved last year. The party cove is great for some people watching. 5. Unlike Bunbury, they don't give you an alcohol wristband when you enter the festival. Have to get it at the vendors 6. Fill up on water as early as you can. Lines got super long after 5 or 6 7. Make sure you check out the entire festival grounds. Theres a lot more art to see and cool vendors to check out than Bunbury. Its definitely a music and arts festival, unlike Bunbury which is just the music.

I definitely think what drew us to picking Forecastle (outside of the lineup) was definitely hearing people on here and looking at pictures about the art and festival grounds. We got the Bourbon Passes too at the recommendation of people here. Haha that's good to know about the Party Cove and Overpass Stage, they seem like good things to check out but probably not to spend a lot of time at. I think I'm starting to put more stock in the festival grounds when it comes to festivals to go to, Electric Forest is on our list to go to at some point soon too because of how it's set up. That is definitely one thing that Bunbury lacks greatly. Even Mamby on the Beach (a much smaller festival) is on a beach and they do art instillations and things like that throughout the main area you walk from stage to stage.

Yeah, that's how Forecastle is too. It's also worth mentioning the grounds are HUGE and very spread out. Everything is well planned too, nothing runs together like a lot of areas at Bunbury. These people have been doing this fest for a long time, and it clearly shows. I've heard they work to better it every year and last year seemed about perfect. The sightlines on the great lawn are far better than the Nisaan stage and the crowd area isn't nearly as narrow. There's distance between stages too, and the party cove is literally off in another part of the park so its well out of the way. If you want to avoid it, you can. There are also specific areas for vendors, artists, and displays. They're not out in the middle of everything. There's room to look around. And plenty of places just to chill and hang out for a while if you want, that's a big plus. Overall, the grounds are much bigger. You'll really enjoy it. They make it a full immersive experience.

When will the daily schedule come out for Forecastle? I have this anxiety they will put Chromeo and Jungle on at the same time.
