It was my first time going and I'd say we primarily go to festivals this size (i.e. a step below like a Bonnaroo or Govs Ball in size) and it's hands down the best festival we've been to. We said that like an hour into being there. Everything from the themes to the art installations was great. I definitely need to echo what was said about the layout (booths along the outer rim of the entire thing and not randomly jammed into the middle WHAT?!) and a lot of the activist stuff was fantastic. You can tell they really do mean it when they tout their sustainability initiatives. The Party Cove is wild but a great idea and I can see why more festivals have dedicated stages to specific demographics.
I definitely can not stress enough how clutch the bourbon lodge was. We didn't really know what we were getting ourselves into with getting those passes but holy crap what a great call. Air conditioned and a million seats and just overall cool vibes in that place. I was really impressed with the amount of food and beverage options and just how many stands they had with that stuff. We did not wait in line for literally anything. It was crazy. I heard some people on reddit say people were phone stealing and stuff but we didn't see any of that or encounter any rude patrons. I know moving around through stages and stuff is a night mare typically and we were able to move up and through the crowd with complete ease.
The Friday lineup was so stacked it was nuts. We got to spend a lot more of Saturday and Sunday just kind of taking in the whole festival and not just at shows the entire day.
Top Acts for Me:
1. JUNGLE (absolutely BROUGHT IT. I think they easily tripled the amount of people watching them by the end of the set)
2. Chromeo (always fantastic and they definitely had a huge range in demographic which was awesome to see. Grandpas dancing around and really young kids also grooving.)
3. Killers (they never put on a bad show and always seem to mix it up. They never do the same set lists which is really nice).
4. Whethan (we didn't know anything about him other than being a DJ and we figured why not, was a great choice. A bunch of people, again large age range, just getting down to EDM haha).
5. Nelly (he had the biggest audience that wasn't main stage. Bunbury should 100% book him).
6. Maggie Rogers (didn't know a ton about her but she feels like she is destined to be a headliner very very soon).
IMO (would obviously weigh heavily on lineup) Bunbury REALLY needs to set up it's game next year in order to get me back over going to Forecastle again.
