Haven’t heard anything recently. It sounds like the lineup is going to drop soon. They normally release a week or two after Bonnaroo. I’ll see if I can dig anything else up. If what I was told a few weeks ago is correct, Cage is one of the headliners. Will they do the clues again this year you think? I’m def interested in how they plan to expand the Bourbon Lounge too. Excited to see how it shakes off. Cage has to be a #3 I’m guessing the clues will start later this week or next week. They normally do them for a week or so before the lineup is released. I’m starting to waver on the Lana Del Rey as a headliner based on something I heard tonight about a headliner. (Country...of the pop variety). I wasn’t given a name, but I have a guess. My guess is a group that was in the news in 2003 for comments that were made about the president at the time...they have new music and a tour planned for 2020. If that is correct, not sure I could see a top line of Lana Del Rey, them and Cage. That makes me think Lana will play somewhere else in Louisville this summer (since she mentioned that Louisville is a stop on her tour). I could be wrong....

Railbird can have them. That would be a big meh for me. I dont care about their political comments and what not really but I mean just like they do nothing for me musically at all. Headliners dont make or break a lineup for me but maaaaan lol

Hoping Country/Pop could magically be Kacey Musgraves instead.

If it’s Tame Impala - Dixie Chicks - Cage that would be OK (not great). If it’s Lana - Dixie Chicks - Cage then I am looking at 3 early nights (with depending on how hot it is might not be a bad thing) hehe

Either way I’m definitely wavering on not leaving early lol. Would Dixie Chicks be a big deal? I’m not a big enough country buff to know. Seems like kind if a weird potential booking for them no?

Dixie Chicks would be a pretty big deal. I would wager they would be a headliner at Forecastle if they played. They are Country but they are also pretty well respected in the Alt-Folk scene kind of like The Avetts. They may not headline everywhere but I think they would at Forecastle.

Interested to see what Forecastle has in store... After Bunbury's weak headliners I expect some quality acts. I feel like Tame Imapala or Vampire Weekend is a lock for this event.

Forecastle said hints are coming soon, or Captain's Clues, as I think they've referred to them in the past.
Since the lineup is Feb 12th I would think they have to be starting them next week if they want to get at least a handfull out before the lineup. I don't remember how many they've done year to year.
I 100% expect them to blow Bunbury out of the water lineup wise (which it appears the bar is set pretty low imo). There are a few big festivals around the time of Forecastle so some acts will be ruled out but I remember someone saying on here or reddit that they moved it back a weekend this year to avoid conflict with a few other festivals in hopes of having more access to acts.

Even if Bunbury DID have a fire lineup, I really want to try out a new fest. Let's hope this one is a good lineup!

Moses and others can attest, it is so well planned and executed, and the fans are exactly the kind of people I want to be around for 3 days. This is a festival that takes notes and improves every year when there is something that can be done a better way. And it shows in every aspect.

I'm debating securing a hotel now and then always have the option to cancel if the lineup isn't great or whatever. Last year we waited until the end of Feb. to pull the trigger and all the hotels were booked and airbnb options were limited.
But yeah Forecastle had really good vibes all weekend and it feels like they are changing around and adding more to the Bourbon Lounge so it's for general admission meaning they're probably be more to do in the open space they did have. It was one of those rare non-bonnaroo festivals where I felt like every little area they had was a completely separate experience from the next, which was really cool.

First Captain Clue
Can't seem to link it since it's a gif so above is a link to the Clue. It looks like some waves with a ringside bell, a clock, a coffee cup and A1 (from the periodic table?) This is what I got when I looked up A1: Group 1A (or IA) of the periodic table are the alkali metals: hydrogen (H), lithium (Li), sodium (Na), potassium (K), rubidium (Rb), cesium (Cs), and francium (Fr).

I'm not overly familiar with MMJ other than knowing they have a pretty large following so I wouldn't be able to decipher those clues to them but they've got me at a loss as a whole. That'd be a pretty big person to have your first Clue be about so that's kind of cool overall if it is them.

Has anyone been to forecastle? is the VIP worth it for viewing areas? bunbury has pretty crazy viewing areas in comparison to most fests for VIP

And this whole private bar thing...assuming its not open, but just less lines. I didn't do VIP last year and I didn't have any issues with sight. There was a VIP section near the main stage that looked like it was pretty big with cool stuff going on but I can't speak to that. I did the Bourbon Lounge pass, which I would recommend, however they are expanding it this year and making it accessible to everyone so you wont need to worry about that. I will also say that we never really had any issue with a line for food or beers. Even the bathroom lines moved really quickly.
