Has anyone been to forecastle? is the VIP worth it for viewing areas? bunbury has pretty crazy viewing areas in comparison to most fests for VIP Id also like to know this. And this whole private bar thing...assuming its not open, but just less lines. Personally, I don’t think VIP is worth it. The viewing areas are off to the side for the main and second stages. The VIP tent is fine, but really nothing spectacular. I have been to Forecastle the last 9 years and have never felt like VIP was worth the $. I can get closer to the stage without VIP and have never had a problem getting beverages in a timely manner otherwise.

I have not been for a few years and wanted to see if it was comparable to the edge that bunbury has with their VIP. Sounds like 3 Day GA + Hotel still may be cheaper than Bunbury VIP.

Yeah, no problem. I live in Louisville so I don’t have to pay anything for lodging and can be back at my house in 10 min from Waterfront Park. So, even without the hotel expense I don’t think paying for VIP is worth it. Now, Bourbon Lodge is totally worth it. Not sure how they are doing it this year, but that’s always money well spent.

People are saying my morning jacket Now that's something I can get behind! I just recently got into them and they absolutely crush live performances. Seems like a strong first hint though...

Forecastle has usually dropped all headliners at some point in the clues - Not the first one usually haha but still. It'd be a big way to generate hypw

I know Lana Del Rey is heavily rumored to be one of the headliners. I would absolutely love something along the lines of:
Tame Impala - My Morning Jacket - Lana Del Rey - Run the Jewels - Kacey Musgraves

So, what I have heard is that Cage the Elephant is a headliner (from a source that would be in the know). Now, that was a few weeks ago so things could have changed. Also heard that another headliner is a pop-county artist. I’m speculating it is the Dixie Chicks since they have a new album out this year and are going to be going on an arena tour. I was told said pop-country artist is NOT Kasey Musgraves.

However, if Kasey is at Forecastle she would be a headliner (top 3).

Something like Dixie Chicks, Cage the Elephant, Lana Del Rey, My Morning Jacket top line feels weird lol. I mean its def not bad but would certainly be eclectic!

No, they didn’t say a if it was a male or female pop-country act. I’m just speculating based on the Dixie Chicks being active again and that they would fit in at Forecastle. (They said that they wished it were Kasey which I take to mean it’s not her) If MMJ is here then they will be a headliner (top 3). Wish I had more info and might be able to get some more, but not going to push it. (If you know what I mean).

Did anyone ever explain why a lot of people think the first Captain's Clue was MMJ?
I saw people online throwing out a lot of different ideas but there didn't seem to be one majority assumption.

Widespread Panic has a song called Arleen with the lyrics "Well I get up every morning at 10:13. That looks like what the clock is set to.
Could be a coincidence and I don't know what the other clues would have to do with them. Just throwing it out there.
Also the lead singer of Widespread is John Bell.

Hm, just looked at some of their song titles and stuff on Spotify they have one called "Up All Night" which could be what the coffee cup (or could be sunscreen as some have pointed out) is referring to. And then a song called "Pickin' up the pieces" which could be reference to the scrabble piece?

Ed Sheeran also fits at least a couple clues but he doesn't seem like a Forecastle kind of guy.
Ed has a song called Cold Cup of Coffee (the last picture is a coffee cup that says 40 degrees on it)
His first big hit was The A Team. Hence the scrabble tire with A on it.
He also has a song called "Wake Me Up" The alarm clock? Also has a song called "Fire Alarms"
Not saying it's him but it fits.

That would be wild because he doesn't fit their usual vibe but would be a big get for them. All those things definitely match up. I hope they do a clue today so we can see if it helps us figure out if these things are referring to song titles or what exactly. Thinking more about it, Ed Sheeran would kind of fit Forecastle, at least like the most pop type artist I could think of that could also be the speed/style of Forecastle. haha in 2 weeks we are going to be like "why the hell did we allow ourselves to think that Ed Sheeran of all people would be on a Forecastle lineup?"

That is definitely a bottle of sunscreen and not a coffee cup.

Having been to the past 3 Forecastles, there is always a few on the message boards hoping they bring back the local band

That is definitely a bottle of sunscreen and not a coffee cup. Damn it, you're right. Also the clock clearly says 10:08 and not 10:13. Hell of a coincidence that Widespread Panic happens to have a song with the time I mistakenly read. LOL

Everyone online seems pretty stumped. No one seems to have a real consensus of who it is even, which is kind of fun that it's not super easy I guess?
One would think we will get another one today since the lineup is next Wednesday. How many do they usually do each year?

I’m hoping we get a Reddit insider like we did last year.

New Clue: Violin, Spaceship, No Sound icon, Big Ben/British Parliament building These clues are 100x harder than the bunbury ones 🙄 I noticed someone on facebook mentioned that they responded back and said they are mixing it up this year to keep it fresh but I agree. Nothing seems overly obvious at all. I wish we were able to figure out if it is a clue for a band name or song title(s) or album or what exactly.

New Clue: Violin, Spaceship, No Sound icon, Big Ben/British Parliament building I saw someone guess ELO and I could see those maybe leaning towards that. Although the Mute or No Sound icon is the only thing I can't make fit that.

I don't think its Widespread Panic or MMJ. They haven't had jam bands like that headline in quite a few years. This festival has drifted away from that.
