I would see JJ, Tash, Jon Bellion, Thundercat, Soccer Mommy, Cage, Manchester Orchestra, Wale, 1975, brockhampton, Carly Rae Jepsen, ybn cordae,
And so don’t even listen to most of that music besides Manchester Orchestra

I think we are gonna check it out this year. At only $135, that sure isn't a bad deal

Almost as bad as Bunbury imo.

Almost as bad as Bunbury imo. What's super apparent at this point is that there are just too many festivals. There's, what, 13 or 14 festivals in a 180 mile radius and they're all competing for the same bands?

The top two lines are pretty weak but the undercard is really strong IMO.

I feel like you will see a few of these festivals close up the shop in the next few years. And this area just isn't a flashy destination for a lot of folks to want to travel too even if its just coming in for a festival.

I think we are gonna check it out this year. At only $135, that sure isn't a bad deal This is kind of my thought. Concerts are continually costing a ridiculous amount of money (partially bc of the fees added on), where as if you buy 2 ticket to one show you are practically spending almost $100 when it's all said and done. So if you find one of these mid-tier festivals that has any number of acts you really like you are essentially getting multiple shows for free for the price of what you'd pay for a normal concert. That's the only up-side I see to having so many festival in the Ohio radius is that I have a lot to choose from around the same price that I can easily drive to. Of course experience always plays a factor. Which is why I'm pretty surprised at how much Bunbury costs vs. Forecastle when they have far less going on around the festival grounds.

I was likely never going to Forecastle, but I do usually REALLY like their lineup. This one is a NO for me.

Honestly I'd rather see festivals start closing up shop, and the one left in that area charge a little more to put on a killer event. These smaller undertakings aren't for me.

Wow...maybe I'll ease up on my Bunbury hate. The festival booking season must have been brutal.
That lineup reeks of last second drop outs.

Yeah I was going to sell my Bunbury tickets for Forecastle had this lineup been better, now I’m glad I held on. I can deal with Bunbury’s lineup. Been listening to some of the undercards and I’m looking forward to them

My logic with Bunbury VIP. Sure it’s 400. But a dozen bands I enjoy for less than $40 each. Up close. Rage or MCR tickets are $300 for the CHEAPEST SEATS right now. Fuck that.

Ya know, I wonder if they're not stretching themselves a little thin with Railbird an hour away. I feel like this year's lineup is lacking a lot of no-brainer bands that are active this year. Railbird is teasing Head and the Heart and Young the Giant, and I have to think those two bands alone would have provided a BIG boost to this lineup.

I'm seeing people online question if the Party Cove is there this year since it wasn't initially mentioned anywhere. That would be interesting for sure. I wonder if that would sway the people that only hung out there to just not go to the festival or what it would mean. Or if they perhaps do something new with that area.
I know they mentioned the Bourbon Lounge will be open to General Admission this year, which makes me think they double it in size and use up a lot of that space that was kind of empty grass last year or perhaps they would move it over to where the Party Cove was and put new things over around where it used to be? They haven't mentioned it yet in their releases so no one seems to have any definitive answers on that.

They haven't mentioned it yet in their releases so no one seems to have any definitive answers on that. Was talking with a person I know that is associated with the fest and got a little info. They are not part of booking the artists, so don’t have details on people that may or may not have dropped. The Party Cove and Bourbon Lodge are both completely gone this year in order to cut costs. Apparently, Live Nation requires a certain profit margin and they cut into that so they are gone. That also leads me to believe that the lineup is actually what they planned (no one dropped). Now, that is all my speculation based on the profit margin requirement. It appears this will be the type of lineup to expect going forward for Forecastle. On a personal note, I’m bummed both are gone. The Bourbon Lodge was a great escape from the heat and I love Bourbon...so, yeah. And, the Party Cove isolated the throw-back NBA jersey wearing teens from the rest of the fest which was fine by me. Curious to see how it impacts the experience this year. I think the one difference between Bunbury and Forecastle is that Forecastle at least tried to curate a lineup that keeps with the vibe and history of the fest given the ‘profit margin’ constraints. While Bunbury seems to just throw money at the artists that they think will bring the most people in without regard to anything else.

I wouldn't have thought either of those would really eat into the profit. In fact, I thought they helped the festival overall. The Bourbon Lodge, while affordable, did generate revenue. And the Party Cove seemed to be the main draw for those aforementioned NBA jersey wearing teens. For as cheap as those Party Cove artists were, I thought they brought in a lot of people. It genuinely disappoints me they probably won't be getting bigger headliners if profit is the motive, because they TOTALLY could. Other fests this size definitely do, and they have the attendance and clout in the industry to do it.

And, I agree, I thought the Bourbon Lodge was bringing them in some serious revenue. But, I guess not. I will say that it was much less crowded last year (the Bourbon Lodge) I knew they wanted to keep the fest smaller, so I didn’t expect headliners to be of the 2014 Outkast/Jack White/Beck size ever again. However, I expected something a little more inspiring than the Headliners this year. At least the undercard has some very good acts. I am going to the Homecoming fest this year and am excited to see how that goes. (That lineup fits my tastes quite nicely).

Wow that is wild! What’s going in those spaces then? That’s a LOT of land that will be unused.
I also noted they are doing some kind of VIP thing on the riverboat this year so it kind of felt like they wont be doing the late night shows on there this year. Or that’s what I took from it at least.

Part of me wonders if they will just fence it off. That is what they did in the past. The fest grounds just ended a little up that hill. Another option is they could put the new bourbon area where the Party Cove was.

No way the new version of it will have the same character that the original one had.
