For a venue if that size? Tickets are gonna be expensive. I saw them at Ruoff in Indy several years back, and the 26k venue sold out a few weeks in advance at 45 bucks a ticket for lawn.

Citi presale. 85$ plus fees, all gen admission. Looks like this is a warm-up show for their tour so it should be really fun. Nothing better than Dave Grohl playing around.

Looks like it’s actually a festival setup in an adjoining park, and they have a few other big shows scheduled for that setup too. This confirms a fear I had about bunburys traditional 3 day festival: that this new venue would make booking a lot harder by snagging bigger bands. I was thinking more along the lines of artists on positions 4-8 and maybe a few smaller potential headliners, but clearly they are able to book premier level headlining talent for standalone shows. Foo Fighters seem to be even bigger than usual right now.

The lawn at the ICON supposedly has a capacity of 8K. That's actually way under what Foo Fighters can draw, they did the arena not too long ago for 14-17,000 at least. ICON is booked by CSO, who does Riverbend, PNC, and Taft. Just looking at the logistics of it, Newport Ovation becomes more and more likely to house Bunbury, albeit at a reduced capacity.

i tried to get foo fighters tickets but they sold way too many during presale. Yeah the math on those presales don't work. For example, I was in the Citi presale, and I could buy up to 4 tickets. I was there early and in queue, and the queue said I was 1,200th in line. So that could be upwards of 4,800 tickets. And I was early, I still got mine. There was a FF fansale before that, and a Tickemaster and Venue presale after the Citi one. I can't imagine anyone got a ticket that didn't have a code. There was only 8k tickets avaialble..

I have been noticing since ticket sales have started back up that there are like 10 presale windows before the actual traditional Friday morning on sale window. I don't know if there is something to do with sponsors on things or what but it's starting to get nerve wracking trying to get tickets for events. I've had to start going to artist sub-reddit's to try and find codes for the past few I've bought in the past month.

Haha I actually just got a new card, not Citi unfortunately, and it was like perfect timing because all of these concerts and fees are helping me reach that initial spend to get all of the introductory rewards pretty quickly. Whether that is really a good thing or not is TBD hahaha

Forum favorite Red Wanting Blue will be playing at Fountain Square July 9. Out of curiosity, when and who was everyone’s last concert?
Mine was American Authors and Magic Giant at Bogarts February 23, 2020. Public unfortunately cancelled cause they had the flu.

Ive actually been to a few since the start of the pandemic, all Here Come the Mummies, who I have seen many times. They’ve done a handful of drive in/socially distanced shows I’ve the last year. Two in Cincinnati outdoors at Riverfront live (fairly rougher venue) with pod seating and one up in Wabash Indiana at a drive in theater. One was back in October, last two were mid May. I’m going to see Fitz and the Tantrums at the Clyde in Fort Wayne on July 3rd. Pretty excited for that one

I saw Vance Gilbert at Club Passim in Cambridge, MA in Feb of 2020. Super random, but it was such an incredible show.

Yeah, I saw they were doing pods indoors for that show, which is odd because the indoor venue is so small, they could easily do the outdoor stage with that setup. The show at the Clyde is indoors GA, no mask or social distance requirements. I am vaccinated and cases are down, so I’m going. It’ll be the first “normal” event in 18 months for me

Where's ICON? I don't think I'm familiar with this venue. Is it new?
I want to try and get down to Cinci for a game and a show here sometime this year if possible. I've never been to a show down there other than for Bunbury.

I think they have 2 venues, one indoors right by the Bengals stadium, and one outdoors at Smale Park, where Bunbury was. iconmusiccenter.com/

The outdoor venue is right next to it, on an elevated area that has parking underneath. Bunbury was in Yeatman's Cove and Sawyer Point, which are the further away, east of the coliseum.

Whoops, yeah totally wasn’t thinking when I said Smale Park hosted Bunbury, think that’s where The National Homecoming Fest was. Also, is the stage on the river? Do you think you can hear it from a boat? I only ask cause my friend just got one, and that would be pretty fun.

It's across the road from Smale, so further back than the National Homecoming was, but the stage points towards the river. Heck, I live in Bellevue, three cities away and up the hill and I could hear The National at my house.

The Killers are playing the new Ovation venue on September 20th. Worth noting this is a “Bunbury Presents” show, which makes me think the actual festival may not return in the old format next year.

Just got tickets for The Killers at Ovation. Is there anyone on here from Newport that would know a cheap parking option in the area?
